Video Marketing

In recent years, the use of video has really come into its own on the internet. YouTube is one of the most visited websites on the planet, and video accounts for well over half of all the traffic online.

No matter what type of business you have, you can benefit from video marketing and a little ingenuity.

Video Marketing is Powerful

Video is powerful because it allows you to communicate on many different levels: visual imagery, the spoken word, music, and visual text. Video is able to instantly engage the viewer far more effectively than any other medium, because it appeals to all the senses at once.

For years people have seen television advertising as a very effective, yet very expensive way to market. The beauty of video marketing on the internet is that there are no costs involved. You video, once uploaded, will remain on the internet for as long as you want it to. If it is promoted effectively, it has the potential to get thousands, even millions of views.

Viral Video Marketing

People love sharing anything funny, touching, witty, or especially relevant with their friends and family. If you’ve got an email address, chances are you receive something along these lines from someone you know fairly often. If you can find a way as a business to present your message in a way that is funny, touching, witty, or incredibly relevant to your target mareket, then your video has a good chance at ‘going viral’. The true power of this is when thousands of bloggers start embedding your video on their blogs, thus multiplying the times it is viewed exponentially.

Video Marketing Can Be Easy

You can make the process of making a video for the internet as easy or as complicated as you want. You can do it with no budget at all, or you can spend thousands. Chances are, if it is marketed correctly you’ll get a similar end result from either option.

In its simplest form, online video marketing can consist of a slideshow, basically a collection of pictures or text-based slides. If you want to spice it up a bit, add some background music, or a voice-over with your marketing message. If you’ve got visions of big production crews, movie directors and bills running into the thousands of dollars, forget it! Remember the KISS rule?

Submitting Your Videos

There are dozens of video sharing sites out there, each with their advantages and disadvantages. Which one is best to submit to? Well for starters, YouTube has by far the most traffic, so it is definitely at the top of the list. At Smart Fusion, we don’t upload to one or two sites; we upload promotional videos to more than two dozen sites in order to get the broadest coverage possible.

Google Loves Video

Google loves videos – have you noticed lately that sometimes a video will show up in your search results? This can be a very powerful marketing tactic. If your video is tagged and promoted correctly, Google will see it as a highly relevant result and display it prominently in the search results, often times leapfrogging over hundreds of your competitors.

I’ve done this multiple times, snagging multiple top spots in Google for highly coveted keywords. This is an extremely powerful way to dominate the search results of any local market! If you’ve got a local business, forget targeting all of North America with your video – make it local, and dominate the local results! I’ve had as many as 7 of the 10 front page search results pointing to my videos for a single keyword. Each of those videos then led back to my site.
